Reservist Penny Mordaunt once worked as a magician’s assistant and also starred on a celebrity diving show has made history after being appointed as the UK’s first female defence secretary. She is a passionate Brexiter, one of the leading faces on the Vote Leave Campaign. She has also stayed loyal to Prime minister during the rows over the Chequers summit. It is a post that is well deserving and most suited to her background in comparison to her previous job which was international development secretary.

On this, Ms. Mordaunt said ‘I am really delighted to be back at the Ministry of Defence, it is an honor and privilege to work with the best-armed forces as well as defence civilians in the world.’

Also former commander of the joint force command, Richard Barrons, supposed ‘she was a hugely effective minister of state for armed forces. From a service perspective, she was hilly regarded and understood the defence world.

One senior official said ‘this is a very clever appointment and she is a long time servant of defence. She is also not afraid of airing her views too. But the question is how long will she be around for?’

She is a daughter of a paratrooper turned teacher and was an acting sub-lieutenant of the Portsmouth based HMS King Alfred. Outside Westminster, Penny Mordaunt is also known for donning her swimsuit in the TV show Splash in 2014. This was the time when she joined celebrities to be trained in diving by Olympian Tom Daley. Out of 20 contestants, she was the ninth which was eliminated from the ITV programme as she mistimed a back somersault in one episode.

Penny Mordaunt was one accused of trivializing parliament after admitting that she had smuggled repeated mentions of the word c**k into a commons speech as the segment of a bet with her fellow reservists.

Penny Mordaunt’s past life

Ms. Mordaunt was born in Torquay and was one of the twins, after that she moved with her family to Portsmouth when she was just two years old. Her mother, who was also a teacher died from breast cancer when she was only 15 years old. Following this, she educated at the local comprehensive and worked as a magician’s assistant. She worked here before studying drama at the Victoryland Theatre School and philosophy at Reading University.

Penny Mordaunt was a conservative head of youth under Sir John Major, and during his leadership, she worked in William Hague’s office too. She also worked in 2004 election campaign of US President George W Bush.

Career of Penny Mordaunt

In 2010 she was first elected as MP for Portsmouth North and also attained ministerial rank under David Cameron amid 2014 and 2016. In 2017 she was also appointed as a  minister for disabled people at the time when Mrs. Mary took power.

In 2017 her appointment to international development secretary was greeted by aid charities. Their aid charities supposed that she has the capability to draw on her experience working in orphanages and hospitals in Romania as a scholar following the 1989 revolution.

After that Penny Mordaunt also made a career in communications, charity, and business and also chose as the director of Diabetes UK. However, in 2015 she failed in her first attempt at the Portsmouth North seat but again in 2010 overturned Labor’s majority to enter Parliament. She increased her share of the vote in each of the following polls. In 2014 he became a junior communities minister and in 2015 also appointed as first female defence minister for armed forces in UK history. She also supported Andrea Leadsom in her failed bid to achieve Mr. Cameron in 2016.
